chapter 1

Our Story

Every hotel has its own story. Ours began, as lasting things often do, with a house, a family, and a quiet understanding of hospitality shaped over time.

The origins

Stories that stand the test of time often begin with unforgettable people.
And that is how our hotel came to be.

Small hotel, British soul, Alpine heart.

Elizabeth & Alfredo

Elizabeth, an elegant English lady, with a natural fondness for beautiful and refined things, and for that sense of measure that endures over time.

Alfredo, a young man from a small mountain village, who had moved to England yet carried the Alps and a love of skiing in his heart. It was there that he discovered golf, a passion that would, in time, quietly find its place in the story of the hotel.

They met, fell in love, and chose Bormio as their home.

From House to Hotel

It was from that house — first a family home — that the hotel came into being in 2001: open to guests, yet with the warmth and intimacy of a private residence.

Over time, the idea quietly took root. The hotel has grown and evolved, yet it remains true to its original spirit: to welcome each guest as one would at home, with sincere care and thoughtful attention.

Making time for people

In 2012, Michele, the son, took on the running of the hotel. A graduate in philosophy and a devoted walker of long mountain paths, he approaches hospitality much as he does the trails: observing, listening, and allowing the necessary time.

A careful eye for people, attentive to small details and able to turn them, quietly, into genuine welcome — for hospitality, after all, is serious work.

The Art of Hospitality

In 2015, Lara entered Michele’s life. For her, hospitality is almost a first language; she comes from a family that has lived by it for generations. Growing up among the rhythms of the seasons, guests arriving and tables laid, she developed a quiet sensitivity to space, later deepened by her studies and her love of art.

Her presence gradually shaped a hotel that feels more considered, more orderly, and carefully centred on the guest.

Where people choose to stay

Two families who have chosen hospitality as a way of life, lived with professionalism and a genuine care for their work. Deeply rooted in their land and in Alpine culture, they share an idea of hospitality that is convivial, sincere, and centred on people.

Today

Together, Michele and Lara run the Alpi & Golf, continuing a family story that evolves over time while remaining true to its roots.

Today, the Alpi & Golf is a mountain hotel with an international outlook, where each detail carries its own story.

And so the story continues, day by day, with those who choose to stay.

The Alpi & Golf is a place in motion. Each season brings new projects, ideas and collaborations. The mountains change, the town evolves, and the hotel grows alongside its surroundings.

Guests are not mere spectators: they take part, discover and share.

A hotel to be lived in, at the gentle rhythm of the mountains.

To grow up in Bormio is to learn early the weight of snow, the rhythm of the seasons, and the value of work done well. Skiing is not merely a sport, but a way of being in the mountains — and of respecting them.

Alfredo shares his love for Bormio and its traditions, rooted in the history of a town that has opened itself to tourism without losing its identity.

Shelves lined with silver sports trophies and framed family photographs, quiet reminders of the hotel’s past.

A place of quiet style and elegance, with a true sense of place.

Behind the scenes, the day begins early. The kitchen lights are switched on while the mountains outside are still quiet; the first table is laid, the rooms checked one by one.

Dough is kneaded, dishes are tasted, a plate adjusted with calm precision. Sheets are drawn tight with quiet care; a picture straightened by an inch, a light gently dimmed.

The doors begin to open and the house comes to life. In the evening the pace shifts, yet the attention remains the same: knowing when to step in and when to leave space. We are a small team, working side by side.

Do come in — we are here for you.
